Abstract

This paper presents the findings from a usability study of Canvas - a popular learning management system (LMS) used in higher education. The participants of this research are faculty users of Canvas LMS in a Research 1 University. The study included a survey, think-aloud interviews, and System Usability Scale (SUS) survey. In this paper, we discuss several usability issues that we uncovered through this research and provide design recommendations aimed at enhancing the LMS’s usability. We also propose that the approach employed in this research holds the potential for replication or adaptation in similar studies.
