How they used Delve

HCI researchers at Zhejiang University used Delve for thematic analysis of semi-structured interviews with eight blind and low-vision users about reading image tables, and of the follow-up evaluation interviews for their TableNarrator system; two researchers coded independently and then refined the themes together.

“We first transcribed the interview content and then conducted a thematic analysis [5] using the Delve Tool [58]. Two researchers independently reviewed the transcripts to generate an initial set of codes based on recurring keywords, and participant expressions. Then, our researchers carried out an iterative coding process and grouped the codes into themes for our research questions.”

Field
Accessibility / screen readers and image tables
Data
Semi-structured formative interviews (online and face to face) with eight blind and low-vision users, and post-evaluation interviews with the user-study participants
Approach
Thematic analysis (Braun and Clarke) of formative and evaluation interviews: two researchers independently generated initial codes from recurring keywords and participant expressions, then iteratively grouped codes into themes
Data types
